Case Study - Aviation

Expanding the Supply Chain

Starting their business in 2011 with just 18 members of staff in a singular factory, our client has rapidly expanded their market scope and now employs over 1,000 specialist personnel across a series of manufacturing sites.

This significant growth in just a few years had led to the client exhausting their supply chain and eligible talent pool, which was no longer able to sustain their workforce demands. To further complicate their staffing challenge, the client was also building a new R&D facility in an unfamiliar location in Ireland; the prominent lack of brand awareness in the area was posing as a barrier for candidate attraction.

To prevent jeopardising the progress of the new R&D site, our client had an immediate requirement to hire 30 key members of personnel including:

  • Quality Engineers / Inspectors
  • Testing & Inspection Engineers
  • Manufacturing / Design Engineers
  • CNC Programmers
  • Maintenance & Reliability Engineers

Our Solution

The NES Fircroft team put forward an experienced Aviation recruitment specialist to liaise with the client and formulate in-depth job briefs to ascertain specific role requirements.

In order to obtain the large volume of niche skillsets required, we utilised our international network to access talent pools further afield than just Ireland and the wider UK, significantly broadening the eligible candidate pool.

We ensured maximum exposure to both active and passive markets through advertising via multiple job boards and our established LinkedIn network.

To enable a seamless process for those candidates mobilising overseas, we ensured that we communicated the fact that our assignment support teams were on hand to assist with any logistical requirements, including managing their travel, temporary accommodation (where required) and visa support.

The Results of our Support

Our market penetration and exposure efforts led to the successful appointment of 30 specialists within the required timeframe.

Of the total supplied workforce:

  • Ireland-based candidates whom were previously out of the reach of the client’s supply chain accounted for 10% of the personnel
  • 50% were Irish nationals working in mainland UK
  • 35% were British nationals
  • 5% were EU nationals working in the UK and Europe
  • We provided full logistical and visa support for personnel mobilising to Ireland

Following our successful support, we have subsequently become the client’s preferred recruitment partner for Engineering positions in Ireland, and look forward to supporting them with their future endeavours.
